Custom Bottles, From the Brief to the Tool
Six pages, in the order a project runs: which path fits, how a mould is developed, how a multi-part pack is engineered, who signs the paperwork, and what actually moves the price.

A brief arrives as a photo, a drawing, or a competitor's bottle on a desk. The first job is not the price — it is deciding which of two paths the brief belongs to, because they carry different costs, different minimums and different lead times.
| Stock mould | New mould | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | One of 3,000+ existing shapes in Haojiang | A tool cut for your drawing, owned by you |
| Tooling | None | From USD 850 for one blow-moulded body |
| MOQ | 1,000 pcs per colour | 3,000–5,000 pcs, depending on the part |
| Sample | 7 days, decorated if needed | T1 samples 20–25 days after tooling starts |
| Lead time | 25–35 days | Tooling 15–30 days, then 25–35 days |
| When it wins | Test runs, gift packs, filled-and-shipped ranges | A shape that carries the brand for years |
Most first orders go stock, because the decoration carries the difference and the tooling does not pay back under a few thousand pieces a year. The exception is a brand whose whole shelf presence is the silhouette — that is worth a tool.
What We Need to Quote Either Path
Six fields, and the answer comes back with the assumptions written down: capacity, neck, material, decoration, quantity and destination. For a new mould, add the drawing or a reference photo — a DFM note comes back before any number does.
If a spec will not work, we say so at that point: a wall too thin for a pump, a hot fill in PET, a thread that cannot strip. That conversation is cheaper before the tool is cut than after.
Two Paths, One Decision
Most briefs fit a stock mould: 3,000+ shapes, no tooling, 1,000 pcs per colour, samples in a week. The rest need a new mould — paid once by the customer, owned by the customer, and only worth it when the volume repeats.
We say which one fits before quoting, because a stock shape with good decoration beats a cheap mould every time the volume is under a few thousand pieces.
