MOQ and Tooling Calculator: What Your Order Actually Needs

Pick a shape and a decoration; the calculator returns the real minimum order, whether tooling is needed, and the timeline.

Designed by Joe Joo · 8PCK, Shantou

You have a quantity. You need to know whether it can be made.

There are three separate floors — 1,000 for a stock mould, 3,000 for spray coat or metallising, 3,000–5,000 for a new mould — and the highest one that applies wins.

    How it is calculated

The Formula, the Assumptions, and Where It Stops

    1. Stock shape: 1,000 pcs per colour, no tooling.
    2. Spray coat, soft-touch or metallising: 3,000 pcs, +5–10 days.
    3. New shape: blow mould ≈ USD 850, 15–20 days, 3,000–5,000 pcs.

Assumptions. Quantities are per colour, not per order; a mixed-colour order carries the minimum for each colour.

Standards we work to. ISO 9001:2015 (quality system, cert PCC85724Q01277R1S) · EU 10/2011 (plastic food-contact, migration report E2032) · RoHS (PE B-R01612E2033, PET B-R201133464) · ISO 4180 (packaging for transport). The calculator is a planning tool: the approved drawing and the migration report decide the final specification.

Where it does not apply. It assumes an existing mould can run the shape. A new shape needs a drawing review before the tool is quoted.

    H O t H = height · O = diameter · t = wall
The three numbers the formula uses: height, diameter and wall.

    Worked examples

The MOQ is set by the least flexible step: the mould if the shape is new, the decoration line if it is sprayed.

    Three Floors, Not One

There are three separate minimums: 1,000 pcs for a stock mould, 3,000 pcs for spray coat or metallising, and 3,000–5,000 pcs when a new mould has to be cut. The highest one that applies wins.

    Why Decoration Raises the Floor

Spray coat and metallising are batch processes with set-up per colour; silkscreen costs less per unit and starts at 1,000.

Yes, once the tool invoice is settled.

Can I mix colours in one order?

Take a stock shape and no decoration, or accept a higher unit price for a short run.
