What Buyers Get Wrong
Cap Specified After the Mould
A 38-400 cap will not fit a 38-410 neck, and both exist on jugs.
Handle Placed for the Shelf
A jug that pours badly is returned whatever the price. Check the pour angle on a filled sample.
Label on a Handled Curve
Wrap labels work; silkscreen on the curved handle area prints poorly.
Handles Change the Mould
A jug is a bottle with a handle, and the handle is the mould. An offset neck leaves room for a full grip; a centred neck with a side handle needs a heavier wall at the joint. Both are blow-moulded in HDPE and both start at 1,000 pcs.
The common sizes are 1 gallon (3.8 L), half-gallon (1.9 L), 2-3 L detergent and 5 L jerry can. Necks run 38-400 for most, 63 mm for wide-mouth.
What Buyers Get Wrong
Two things: the cap is specified after the mould (a 38-400 cap will not fit a 38-410 neck, and both exist), and the handle is placed for the shelf rather than the pour. A jug that pours badly is returned regardless of price.
Decorating a Jug
Labels are the practical option; silkscreen on a curved handled surface is possible but the print area is small. Most brands use a wrap label plus a moulded-in volume mark.
