Clear Bottles: When Clarity Is the Product
A clear bottle sells the product itself: colour, texture, fill level. It is also the format where light and oxidation do the most damage.
Clear packs work when the product is the hero: a coloured gel, a layered serum, a botanical. The trade-off is light and oxygen exposure.
The free Bottle Spec Checker tests whether your neck fits the closure and whether the wall survives a pump stroke.

When Clear Wins
Shampoo, body wash, toner and serum where colour and texture are the selling point. Clear PET also shows fill level, which some markets require.
PET
The default: clear, low-cost, recyclable.
PETG
Thicker wall; reads closer to glass at 20–30 % more.
When Clear Is Wrong
Retinol, vitamin C and light-sensitive oils degrade in clear packs. Amber or opaque is the answer, not a label.
The rPET Colour Shift
Higher recycled content makes clear PET slightly warmer and hazier — fine for coloured products, awkward for water-clear.
How to Specify It
What separates a good clarity order from a bad one is the sample and the standard, not the catalogue photo.
Ask for Two Batches
Batch-to-batch variation is the usual complaint; compare two physical samples, not photos.
State the Light
Look at the sample under shop lighting, not office lighting.
Write the Acceptance
A visual standard plus a physical master sample is what a factory can actually match.
What It Does to the Claim
Any clarity changes what the pack can claim about recycling. Decide the claim before the finish, not after.
Questions We Get on This
Is clear PET food safe?
Food-grade PET with the declaration is; it is the most common clear packaging material.
Does clear protect from light?
No; light-sensitive products need amber or opaque.
Is clear PETG better than PET?
It looks thicker and more premium, at 20–30 % more per unit.
What is the MOQ?
1,000 pcs per colour.
Does clarity change the MOQ?
Usually yes — most finishes start at 1,000 or 3,000 pcs; check before designing the range.
Can I see a sample first?
Yes: 7 days on stock moulds, with the finish applied.
Does it affect recycling?
Often — coatings and pigments can put the pack outside the standard stream.
